Frequently Asked Questions

Below you’ll find answers to some commonly asked questions. If you’re having trouble finding the information that you need, please feel free to contact us directly.

What if I have some questions/comments about the VSP?

We’d love to hear them! Questions, feedback or input - Tourism Vancouver welcomes it all. Get your questions or thoughts to us by contacting a representative of the Travel Trade sales team directly.

If I no longer wish to receive emails from you, is there a way to remove my name from your mailing list?

Yes. If you no longer wish to receive communication by email, simply clear the "notify me of updates" checkbox on your Profile page You’ll be removed from our electronic distribution list automatically.

What if I experience technical problems?

If you’re experiencing technical problems with the Vancouver Specialist Program online training site, please contact your Tourism Vancouver Travel Trade sales manager. Explain the issue and we will work to get it rectified as soon as we can.

What if I change my place of work or email address?

Updating your details is easy. After you log into the online training site, just visit the Edit Your Profile page and update your information.

What if I forget my password?

Please click here to reset your password.

Can I access the program from my work and home computer?

Yes, in fact, you can access the Vancouver Specialist Program from any computer with internet access. All you need is your login information.

What is the VSP passing grade for the exam?

The quiz is multiple-choice, and was designed to reinforce learning and not to make it difficult to pass. If you answer a question incorrectly, you’ll be informed and then immediately given the chance to review the section and try again. The answer to each question at the bottom of a screen is contained within the same screen, so you can just re-read the information above and find the correct answer. You will not be able to move on to the next section without correctly answering the question at the bottom of the screen. So to pass the VSP and gain certification, you need to get a score of 100 percent on your quiz.  But remember, the quiz is not designed to “trip you up” – we really want you to pass!

What will I be tested on?

You will be tested on the material covered within sections of Module One through Module Five. The answer to each question is contained within the information on the same page and you will not be tested on any information that is not included in the VSP training site.

What happens if I have to log off mid-session or have not completed a module?

The program is designed to recall where you left off, so when you log on the next time, you will be able to resume the module you’re working on. You can do this as many times as you need to - your progress is maintained through to completion.

Where is the Vancouver Specialist Program presently being offered?

Agents based in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, China and India are presently eligible.  Full benefits apply to these markets only.

If I am located in a country that is not presently a target market for the VSP, can I still complete the program?

Yes, absolutely. However, other than receiving a VSP certificate, we are unable to extend other program benefits to those completing the program from regions outside of our key markets.

Why are the full benefits of the program only offered to agents in certain countries?

These countries represent those key markets identified by Tourism Vancouver as part of our annual planning process. We invest in these markets for strategic reasons and are therefore bound by decisions from our Board of Directors and tourism industry stakeholders to only invest in those markets.

How frequently do I need to update my VSP certification?

You will need to complete the full program once every two years to keep your Vancouver Specialist designation. When you’re getting close to the end of your two-year certification period, we will send you an email reminding you that you will need to update your qualifications.

How long do I have to complete the VSP online training?

After you sign up, you have one year to complete the program. However, the faster you complete the VSP, the faster you'll have access to its benefits.

What are the requirements to take the Vancouver Specialist Program?

To be eligible to take the Vancouver Specialist training, you must be a registered travel agent and agree to the program’s Terms and Conditions.

Why am I asked to register?

There are a few reasons. First of all, as the program is only open to qualified agents, we need your information to make sure that you’re eligible. Then, in order to receive accreditation as a Vancouver Specialist and access to the program’s benefits we require your detailed contact information, which is then requested upon completion of the program. Finally, we would also like to stay in touch with you in the future to make sure that you receive information about updates to the program, special offers and reminders.
